Started in 1973, Young Arts provides exciting opportunities for
children and young people to expand their horizons through
their involvement in creative arts activities.
We aim to inspire young people with a lasting enthusiasm for
the arts and an awareness of our arts heritage and its
conservation. Our vision is equality of opportunity for all to learn
through participation in the arts.
As a local society we enjoy supporting Young Arts projects and inspiring an interest in Art in children and young people.
In the past we supported St Lukes Primary School, where a large wall mosaic was created by the children which is now displayed at the school itself.
In September 2008 we began our sponsorship of Joe Twilley, a local Sixth Form Student who created and now maintains our website, which you are now using! This project is ongoing and Joe is now studying History at Royal Holloway, University of London.
In 2010 Young Arts supported Ms Leonora Burton an MA Fine Arts student, by giving funding towards the cost of equipment needed for her 'Conservation of Fine Arts MA' at Northumbria University.

Over the past year we have worked with King's School Art Club who needed funding to help them work in collaboration with local Sunday school youngsters to produce a set of murals. Celebrating events in the Christian calendar, these were intended for use to decorate local churches and also as a learning resource.
